I am starting to feel the excitement build as Valentines Day approaches! In this post I am going to give you five amazing ideas you can use to make this an incredibly romantic day that she will not soon forget.
Just a quick thought before we get going. If you are one of those guys that thinks that Valentines Day is cheesy or to mushy, then you need to rethink this today. Perhaps you have gone through the motions every year with the traditional bouquet of flowers and some chocolate. If this is you, I’m here to tell you that it is never to late to change. And if you want the most out of your relationship with your better half, then it’s time to get busy.
For starters, Women are much deeper emotionally than us guys. That’s a generalization, but true for the most part. Given their emotional state, it’s much easier to make a profound impact on your Woman than you may think. The lovely females in our lives have the ability to attach much more meaning to something than we may have intended in the first place. So if you’re not the romantic type to begin with, then you are going to make a big impact this year!
Valentines Day of 1998 was the day I asked Robin to marry me. So V-Day has even more of a special meaning for us. We always try to do something extraordinary! Where we live in Utah there is a boutique “theme” hotel called The Anniversary Inn. Each of their rooms is decorated in a different theme. We have stayed there quite often and on many Valentines Days as well. So now it’s kind of become “our thing”. This year we are returning again. Our Daughter and her Husband even gave us a gift card for the Inn for Christmas! Since we have stayed there often, I now have to get a little more creative with our stays!

The last thing I would like to say before I get to the list is this. “Lighten up, let go and have a little fun.” It’s taken me a long time, but I have relinquished the worry of what others think about me. The truth is that other people think about you a lot less than you think they do. And when it comes to my spouse, I figure if I can’t completely be myself in front of her……then who? Also, let go of the resistance. Yes, V-Day is on a Thursday. And yes, most of us have to work the next day. However, if we do something special for our significant other and we happen to stay up until 2am, will we die when we have to get up at 6am to go to work?? I don’t think so. We hold on tightly to all the reasons that we CAN’T do something. When we would be much better off focusing on all the reasons that we CAN!! So rip it up this year!!…let’s get to the list so you can set her heart on fire!
—–A PASSIONATE OVERNIGHTER—–
1. OVERNIGHTER. Plan an overnight getaway! This is so meaningful!! With all the stress and hurrying around in our everyday lives, chances are good that your Lady could really use some “relax” time and probably some “couple time” as well. This does not have to be a costly event. There are plenty of places with reasonable pricing and many of them will be promoting specials as “Valentines Day Packages”. Now of course you could go out to dinner and that’s a fine plan. However, I suggest that you pack a cooler for the room. You can include whatever you like. In the past, my cooler for the room has included anything from wine and cheeses to Dorito’s and Red Bull! It’s never failed to get a laugh out of my Wife as she watches me unpack the cooler. Be sure to take your favorite romantic music, some candles, even some games! Whether the games are naughty or nice is your choice. (personally I have always thought that the naughty games were very nice indeed!) [click to continue…]
